India is facing an extreme animal feed shortage, which is a “major factor” behind the recent rise in costs of milk production. The Indian Grassland and Fodder Research Institute have pointed to a deficit of up to 29 % in the availability of feed, including fodder. According to the report, there is a deficit of 23.4 % in the availability of dry fodder, 11.24 % in that of green fodder, and 28.9 % for concentrates. Among other things, the report points out that the shortage in fodder availability is a “major reason” why Indian livestock’s milk productivity is 20-60 per cent lower than the global average. Feed alone constitutes 60-70 per cent of milk-production costs. Cattle feed constitutes about 60-70% of operating on dairy farms. Nearly 80% of Bihar region milk comes from small and marginal farmers, basically depend on home grown fodder. Usually these fodders are low in nutrition and essential ingredient, lead major health issues in cattle. In rural state like Bihar due to flood and drought maximum farmers need to migrate with livelihood to keep them alive and survive. In this meantime they faces fodder crisis and even many cases cattle starve to death.
Mr Sanu Kumar (30 years) founder of Charavidhi Agri Solution pvt ltd from naugachia Bhagalpur and is located on the bank of Ganga River. He realized there are numbers of farmers who migrated yearly and lost their livelihood, their cattle used to starve to death. So he started first “Fodder mess” at local cattle market (Pakra Pashu-Hatt). To keep this business thread alive and run frequently he needs to establish the mess near local cattle market so that he can get more numbers of customer’s footfall. Of course “Fodder mess” services make all dairy farmers more organized and setting up a new feeding culture. Now no farmer needs to worry about managing the dairy necessities, they’re there 24*7 to serve.
In his company there are two vertical 1st as CHARAVIDHI rigorously solving the green fodder crisis by producing silage. In service part they consistently working with the rural farmers to enhance the milk capacity (25-35%) of cattle and drill down the fodder crisis. They promoting the “Contract Farming” so that farmers can be benefited maximum. By contract farming with rural farmer to get the green fodder to produce the silage. Silage is the only solution to ensure the availability of green fodder throughout year.
And 2nd vertical running “CHARAVIDHI mess” where provide nutritional and healthy diet on subscription basis for their cattle as well as also provide them free medical check-up, breeding and of course, giving them a decent price for selling their dairy goods. For mass migration due to flood, they provide fodder mess at local “cattle hatt” where any farmer can feed their animal and survive
