India is one of the top ten producers of Honey. On the contrary per capita consumption of Honey in India is just 8 grams as compared to 1.6kgs average of top ten countries. Owing to its proven anti-bacterial, anti-microbial and anti-inflammatory properties, Honey is all set to gain a momentum in both Food and Non-food applications across India. Consumers prefer Honey for natural and healthy alternative to artificial sweeteners. Life is sweet for Samarth Garg, hailing from Faridabad in Haryana, after completing his B.tech from Vellore Institute of Technology.
During the training, his search for a sustainable Agri-venture stopped at an established Apiary wherein, he observed a scientific procedure of honey processing and his interest was triggered. Investing his own capital, he registered the honey processing unit by the name of “Surichi Foods and Agri Products LLP”. The capacity of the honey processing unit is around 150 kg per day. Samarth Garg started procuring and processing honey, flower-wise. Subsequently, the processed honey was catalogued by brand names i.e. HoneyTub. The processing unit is having good storage facility and skilled labours are engaged in honey sachets packing and labelling etc. The sachets that are sold by them are very well received by customers. Leverage partnership with Institutional buyers such as railways, airlines, and fitness centers as and when new products are introduced. Currently, he has tied up with e-commerce sites for delivering products online. This has made the products more accessible to people. Samarth Garg says that he is expanding his business according to the availability of flowers in the state; Mustard flower raw honey is procured from Punjab, Litchi honey from Bihar and Neem raw honey from other States. He has individual contract with Bee keepers in other part of the States.
Samarth Garg serves pure and natural honey as well as provides a gateway for farmers to sell their produce. He procures honey from the farmers across India and does the branding and marketing. His aim to provide consumers with healthy honey based snacks and beverages and partner with bee-keepers for their inclusive economic growth.
